PARENT AND CHILD HULA HOOPING
This special workshop is for Mom's and Daughters to enjoy an activity together while learning some basic hoop dance moves and playing some interactive games. Grandmas are welcome too as well as dads and sons of course.
Come have some fun with your kids! The class is taught by a mom and 12 year old daughter who love hooping together. Whether you’re 7, 17, 37 or 77 you can come learn the basic of an activity that the two of you can share together for a long long time. Note that kids under 7 year olds may not yet have the coordination to keep a hoop going. Hoops are provided for class use and for sale.(Ottawa)

FAMILY TAEKWON-DO (7 years - Adult)
Taekwon-Do is a Korean martial art developed by General Choi. Classes consist of warm-ups, sparring, patterns, self-defence and meditation. FREE BIKE MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP (12 years - adult)
Offered by Peter Conlay, owner of McCrank’s Cycles in the Glebe, this is a workshop in basic bicycle maintenance. Discussions will include bicycle safety, simple maintenance you can do at home, and easy ways to upgrade and improve your bicycle and its accessories. GIRLS & BOYS INNER CITY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
| FLAG The Inner City Football League (ICFL) is entering its 5th season in 2013 and GNAG has been a major participant in every year. The program is run by the Ottawa Generals Football Club. Tyke - Birth Year - 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 (5 on 5 - no equipment - no contact) Mosquito - Birth Year - 2001 and 2002 (5 on 5 - no equipment - no contact) Peewee - Birth Year - 1999 and 2000 (5 on 5 - no equipment - no contact) Bantam - Birth Year - 1997 and 1998 (5 on 5 - no equipment - no contact) Cost : $95 per player. T-Shirt and Shorts First 30 minutes is a warm up / practice – then 60 minutes of 5 on 5 football that is supervised by experienced football coaches. This is very recreational and ideal for newcomers and beginners. GIRL’S TOUCH FOOTBALL The National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) has been running minor football leagues in the area since 1955. For the past decade they have operated a Girl’s Touch League that has become extremely popular. In partnership with the Ottawa Generals. The Generals will provide the coaching. Cost: $95 per player. This spring get lost in the magic of musical theatre with instructor Amelia Keene. Our theatre program will give budding thespians a chance to create a sensational theatrical masterpiece from the bottom up – writing, directing, producing, choreographing, rehearsing, painting, building, and naturally STARRING in their very own dramatic production. Brush up on your favorite theatrical talents and improve in areas you would like to perfect, all the while having a ball spending time reveling in all things theatrical. The RBC Bluesfest is back with their popular ‘Be in the Band’ initiative in January 2013. This 9-week program will put you together with other young musicians who want to be in a band. Do you currently sing or play an instrument and have an interest in working with others to create music? (Ottawa)

Learn how to work as an ensemble while perfecting your musical skills. You may have a chance to perform at the
RBC Bluesfest this summer. Pre-requisite to “Be In The Band” is a minimum of one year of lessons with your instrument.
Meet, greet and evaluation: Tuesday January 8, 2013 5:30 - 7:30 pm
Rehearsals are either Fridays or Saturdays: January 11 - March 23 (ex March 8 & 9)
Days and time are to be determined after the meet and greet.
Tuition: $95 includes backline equipment, two rehearsals per week along with

Note for students and parents: occasionally, students aren’t quite technically ready for playing in a band despite having taken lessons for a year or more. The main issue is always timing and confidence. Students should at the very least be able to play for extended periods of time in sync with a metronome, while changing chords/notes for guitarists/bassists, or playing a basic extended rock beat for drummers. Students who are evaluated as not quite ready will be put into a study group for the duration of Be in the Band 2013, with the intention of getting them ready for a performance if possible, or simply to hone their skills for the following year.
