COMMUNITY THEATRE

GNAG Community theatre focuses on education. The aim is to help those members of the community with an interest in acting, singing, and dancing to improve their skills by giving them an opportunity to perform. The motto for our program, which emphasizes process rather the product, is: “Theatre education - it is as much about learning how, as it is about the show.”

At the same time, we maintain scrupulously high production values by hiring a professional director, music director, and accompanist, as it is our belief that the higher and more professional the standards, the more the cast will learn. The end result is a show that is looked forward too with great expectation by a growing community audience of family members, friends, and neighbours.

Our cast is multigenerational as is our target audience. We try our best to accommodate as many interested individuals as possible through double-casting and/or including non-speaking “crowd” roles.

gleeBE - The Musical

Kids. Their dreams. Their tangled torrid romances of  hope and lust. Parents. Their aims. Their aching hearts and feet. And those sudden upheavals where they're right back again in the same hormone soup as the kids: hearts beating, eyes locking, stealing the kiss they think no one sees. At least with the watching elders, you'd think it'd be wisdom serene as the snow. But no, this is the Glebe, and there's no one going gently just yet.

Join us in creating community theatre that sings, dances, and plays your life, your neighbourhood, your story, right onto your very own stage. Same stellar team—plus! Eleanor Crowder, Rachel Eugster, John Robertson and Mary Tsai-
Davies combine to put YOU in the spotlight.

Join us for a process that will stretch through two terms: Learn the songs and the steps in term 1 (Oct 6 - Dec 8, 2010 - includes musical numbers to be performed at the Snowflake Special on Dec 11), stage the show in term 2 (Jan 4 - April 3 ).

You'll be keeping the momentum going while learning tricks before you know it. This is a great cardiovascular workout and builds muscle tone. The whole class is set to upbeat music and taught by professional hula-hooper Sophie Latreille of Fire Weavers Performance Troupe. No experience necessary!
